My First Mission Trip

December 2, 2007 · 1 Comment

I am so excited about my first mission trip.  I will be going to Bamboi, Ghana in April of 2008 with my daughter.  We will be working with the poorest tribe in Ghana….the Mo tribe.

It was my daughter’s idea to go in the beginning.  She went to Guatemala this last summer and served in a remote village in Canilla.  They mainly worked with the children doing a Vacation Bible School and working in the schools in all of the surrounding area.  When I picked her up at the airport, she informed me that she “needed” to go to Ghana.  My first reaction was, “How are we going to raise over $5000. to do that!”.  Then I realized that if the vision is strong enough the money will come.

Once I committed to going, I started getting really excited.  God gave me a desire to not only go there to serve, but also to raise the money to build wells in the village.  When I heard that some of the people have to walk 10 miles every day to get their daily water, it broke my heart.  I realized that I may not have a lot (according to American ideas), but I have access to safe water by simply turning on the faucet.  I may not have the money myself to build a well, but I can find enough people that would like to be a part to get one built.

    Sweetheart:

Great looking blog! I am very proud of your mission. I am sure you and Vanessa will be the catalyst to more than one well and more than one faucet that produces clean water!

    I love you!
